Prague
Sunday (18.5 ) was a rainy day, I didnt do much, except for configuring the blog, eating and dishwashing J
One gets addicted to the internet quicker than I thought…
Monday was rain again, so we didn’t want to go out for lunch. We decided to have Indian food on the first floor, but without considering out 1800 colleagues, who also didn’t intend to leave the building. When we arrived at 12:30 everything was sold out (normally never happens till 13:00) and we had to think about an alternative.
Took some time, then we found a pizza delivery, another 50 minutes and we received 3 little boxes from a fairly unfriendly guy with fairly annoying facial expression.
Have a nice meal.
We all agreed there could have been better value for hits not even ‘main course size’ meal.
Tuesday was rainy again, everybody’s mood got worse and worse, and I started an adventurous tour to DHL Basketball at the other end of the city.
As I decided to choose the shortcut ‘bus->tram’ instead of the secure metro option, I was soon in traffic jam with the bus, that beeps horribly every time the doors close (it has 3 doors..; I wouldn’t go by bus in Germany if they had that noise; unreasonable). Then I transferred to the tram, it was raining heavily, just to find out theres a detour due to road building going on. So what, I got off and tried to make my way the the gym.
We skip the 20 minutes I walked in the rain, so arriving soaked at the gym, after a while finding the entrance, I found 4 guys chatting, none from DHL waiting for some other guy with the keys. I wasn’t even too late, got changed, and we had a nice game!
Unfortunately only for one hour, as they only booked the gym till 19:45, even though nobody was in after us, meaning we could have stayed some more half an hour…
Thursday, were now on 23rd, I joined martin to go out in the evening, which was really nice. It was a bar near I.P. Pavlova, where we also live, and had many young people as well as life music. We got to know a bunch of people working in accounting for the Staropramen and Stella Artois brewery, a funny crowd, with many native French speakers
Only drawback: They were all smoking.
Yesterday wasn’t much going on, as I got a cold (annoying) and was down from work.
I wanted to go to bed early, but when I was just about going to sleep, thanks to friend who was asking if I wanted to join him on a beer, I woke up again…
Today weather is fine finally
and I’ll head for the universities botanical garden after lunch!
Expect to take my 500th flower picture
Annotation: After coming back, there were not many flower pics added. garden was boring, colorless.
New pictures on!

Prague
Blog is moved to http://whereareyou.corinnagutmann.de !
Been working on it for a while now, getting obsessed with rearranging and adding plug-ins, not getting to do important stuff, but as it#s been raining for a while now, and I didnt bring an umbrella…
Hope you like the layout!
Even thought I’ve only done minor customizing to the theme, it’s very much how I would like to have it
On the upcoming weekend I will adapt it a bit more, but now that I’ve to be in the office all day, I hate sitting in front of the screen when I come back from work
I need to move!
Played basketball yesterday, was supposed to be DHL company- sport, but there was only one guy from DHL. Was still lots of fun thought, go there next week definately.
5 other guys werent even angry about me never hitting the basket
No, honestly we had a good game
The problem im confronted with now: summarize the last two weeks.
I’ve wanted to do that for a while, people having phoned me know that, as I always complain ‘I’d rather play around with the blogs layout then typing new entries’ …
That is the reason I love doing Table Tennis Club website, as the actual input comes from somebody else.
As it was raining in Prague since Sunday, employees at DHL are lazy and dont want to go out for lunch.
As we dont have a cantine this poses a problem: where to get food.
On Monday we were trying to get the Indish food, offered on the first floor, best around 12 o’clock.
When we arrived everything was sold out! The pizza we ordered was overpriced, had at most 20cm O -> even more annoying.
If work hadnt been that interesting, we would all be tired and unmotivated.
But now that I’ve got a very interesting task, even valuable for the department
I’m starting to like it. My colleagues are a bit irritated as they cant give me the most boring tasks anymore, but never mind.
During the next weeks I will concentrate on modeling business processes with Visio, and trying to increase efficiency, avoiding the monotonous task of a Vendor coordinator, I described in a previous article.
Problem in our department, as probably often, the Jefe has everything in mind but many others don’t overlook the whole story.
What we need are PROCESS-OWNERS
Continuing daily life, I don’t own the make-yourself-something-to-eat process yet. As I was shopping at Plus discounter for frozen Pizza and baguette to crisp in the oven, I intended to have an easy meal, prepared while I clean the apartment (urgent).
This was not going to happen.
First the oven stayed just too cold for a too long time, then I consulted the manual for the microwave, read something about ’12 minutes, bread’ and there we go:
My first self-made- ready to throw away ‘brotchips’ (leo doesn’t know translation of this word)
By the way: I then had some zmrzlina and enjoyed Sky TV for a while…
I suppose I better go now, maybe listen to some George Carlin
Next topics to cover:
- language mix, lack of understanding not only Czech
- catch up on last week
- Some new Photos on, see link in sidebar for Vyserad, Kutna Hora etc.
- start a discussion on working clothes, as I’m fed up with wearing smart dresses
